
The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) is a public entity that funds itself entirely through its own resources and the management of its assets. As a result, all of its profits are reinvested to drive innovation and stimulate the local economy.
Among the key highlights for 2025:
— The CZFB completed 18% of its 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, which is based on four cornerstones: Regional Economic and Social Development, Urban Integration, ESG Compliance (Environmental, Social, and Governance responsibility criteria), and Economic Sustainability.
— This year, DFactory Barcelona – the world-class Industry 4.0 ecosystem – achieved 100% occupancy, currently hosting 42 companies.
- The success of DFactory Barcelona’s occupancy has led to an expansion including the construction of four new buildings, increasing its current 17,000 m² to nearly 60,000 m².
- Expansion work at DFactory has already begun with the construction of a cube-shaped building, a space of over 1,000 m² designed for business events as well as significant social, civic, and cultural gatherings.
- Initiatives within the entrepreneurial ecosystem have been promoted through the Logistics 4.0 Incubator, Spain’s dedicated incubator for logistics 4.0. In its two years of operation, it has supported 60 start-ups, creating nearly 460 jobs with an approximate business volume of 46 million euros.
— The Barcelona Free Zone has become the world’s first free zone to receive the OECD Security and Transparency Certificate.
— Revalidation of all management systems certifications across the CZFB’s various departments:

- UNE-EN ISO 45001:2023 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
